Hobart Township residents are very proud of their new town hall. Prior town hall was built in 1904.
Residents may use the facility free-of-charge.
The Hobart Town Hall was built in 2014. It took two years to save, one to build. The $250,000 building was levied with a taxpayer vote over the span of two years. First the taxpayers approved $100,000, but when we realized we’d need more we asked for another $150,000 and that was approved, too. The old town hall, which was built in 1904, was acquired by an Amish family.
In addition to using the building for township meetings and as a polling place for elections, local organizations and residents may reserve it for meetings, graduation parties, reunions, birthday parties and so on. It is availble for township residents to use free of charge. There is a $100 cleaning deposit that will be returned if the facility is cleaned up after the event.
The 3,200 square foot steel building is handicapped-accessible, has running water, bathroom facilities, a storage area for township supplies, such as road markers, and an office. The town hall seats about 100 people; tables and chairs are available, as is the use of a kitchen that offers a fridge and oven.
